Typhon

A Heads-up display (HUD), that allows human personnel to navigate and interact with the many virtual systems in the underground Elysium complex. It also has haptic systems, which are installed in the hands, so certain virtual objects can be “touched”. A certain amount of heat, cold and other sensations can be induced in the user.

The original Typhon system was a Phoenix invention, but the Legacy group took the design and greatly improved upon it. Phoenix gratefully accepted and reintegrated the upgraded design back into their workforce as Mark II. There are rumors that the Legacy group has an even more high-tech design that they are not sharing with Phoenix.

Elysium Employee Handbook: “Every Elysium employee gets the Typhon system installed in their head. It would be impossible to work here without it.”

By the time of Legacy’s Journey, the system has been used for about 20 years, so the technology quite stable. Bugs and errors are rarely reported.
In Countess’s time, 700 years later, there may be glitches and malfunctions as a result of environmental factors, equipment age, radiation, etc…

Elysium Training Specialist: “Some doors, walls and objects don’t physically exist. In fact, most don’t. The Typhon virtual and haptic systems allow users to interact with these phantom objects. And the system affords maximum workplace flexibility and scalability.”
