Author’s Notes

When The Koronah created Infectus as a bio-weapon, they inadvertently turned the universe into a cancerous digestive system. When Infectus attacks and eats its prey, it breaks everything down and transfers it into non-local storage for later use.

Everything is saved. Nothing goes to waste. Even the mind / consciousness is stored.

This is a key feature of the system–it’s why Infectus was created in the first place. The Koronah wanted to store themselves for later retrieval… hide themselves from the other races who were trying to destroy them.

This turns out to be a good thing for all who have been consumed by it. They can be brought back exactly as they were. This is possible because as Infectus was “digesting” you, it was creating a blueprint of how to rebuild you.

All of these blueprints are stored within Infectus, carefully cataloged by species. Lovely! No, terrible. Lovely and terrible. xD

That’s not a database. it’s a galactic graveyard.

“Natural Science”, by RUSH on the album Permanent Waves – “Wheels within wheels, in a spiral array. A pattern so grand and complex.” – Partially influential on the creation of Infectus. It hints at the human race, its genetic code and consciousness is imprisoned within Infectus.
