Scientists have detected its gravitational shadow for decades. They call it Dark Matter. They measure its energy output and call it Dark Energy.

What is the Day of Fire?

Tomorrow…

A one day nuclear war almost destroys the surface of the Earth. Most humans, animal and plant life are killed.

Cobalt-salted warheads are used, which makes the lingering radiation much worse. It takes several hundred years to dissipate.

Who is Countess?

Seven hundred years after the Day of Fire, Countess is born into a world at war. Her kingdom of Yorke has been feuding with the neighboring kingdom of Saug for over two decades.

She retires after twenty years of service to her kingdom as an officer in the Intelligence Corps. For meritorious service, she is awarded a royal title: Countess. For official matters and high-level gatherings, she retains her former military rank of Commander.

What is Infectus?

Infectus is an ancient bio-weapon.

How ancient? It’s billions of years old. It was eating its way across the galaxy, destroying entire civilizations, long before life began on Earth.

You can compare it to H.P. Lovecraft’s Shoggoth, or John Carpenter’s The Thing, but it’s much, much worse.

What is Dark Pearl?

Dark Pearl is a mega-structure 72,000 light-years from Earth. It’s on the other side of the galactic core, so we’ll never see it with any Earth or near Earth telescopes.

Legacy, an A.I. launched into space during the Day of Fire, gives Dark Pearl its name when she first sees it.
